Lindsay Lohan Says She Feels Safe and Free Living in Dubai

Lindsay Lohan says she feels safer and more at peace living in Dubai.

The actress, who became a mother in July 2023, shared in a recent interview with Elle that Dubai’s environment makes it easier to maintain a balanced routine as a mom.

“I get the privacy, I get the peace, I get the space. I don’t have to worry there; I feel safe,” she said.

Balancing Motherhood and Acting

Now 38, Lohan has returned to acting while also embracing her new role as a mother.

She and her husband, Bader Shammas, welcomed their son, Luai, in July 2023.

The couple met in Dubai and have been together since 2020.

Lohan spoke about the importance of structure in her daily life, especially now that she is raising a child.

“I love having a routine, and I like schedules,” she said.

Her mornings are now spent journaling, sipping green tea, and having breakfast with her son before heading to Pilates.

“It’s all about balance and, as I said, routine. Especially when you have a kid, routine is the most important thing. And whatever their routine is, I’ve got to live by that,” she added.

Los Angeles Life Still Brings Stress

Despite her love for structure, Lohan admits that it’s difficult to maintain her routine when she’s in Los Angeles.

She finds herself constantly worried about paparazzi attention.

“It’s hard in LA. Even taking my son to the park in LA, I get stressed. I’m like, ‘Are there cameras?’” she said.

She noted that New York feels more relaxed in comparison, explaining that “no one bothers us” there.

However, she pointed out that Dubai offers her the best of all worlds — space, peace, and above all, privacy.

Dubai’s Laws Offer More Protection

Lohan moved to Dubai in 2014, largely stepping away from the Hollywood spotlight after years of relentless media scrutiny.

One major benefit of life in the United Arab Emirates is its privacy laws.

In Dubai, it is illegal to take photos or videos of someone without their consent — even in public spaces.

This legal protection offers celebrities like Lohan a far greater sense of personal freedom.

In an earlier interview with Bustle in March 2024, she revealed that media coverage often overshadowed her work.

“I feel like that kind of took on a life of its own. So that’s why I wanted to disappear,” she said.

“I was like, ‘Unless there’s no story here, they’re not going to focus on just my work.’”

Other Celebrities Also Seeking Privacy

Lohan is not alone in her desire for more privacy and security.

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake also left Los Angeles in 2018 to shield their children from paparazzi attention.

The couple now spends most of their time in Tennessee and Montana.

Actor Josh Hartnett moved to the English countryside after experiencing several stalking incidents while living in Los Angeles.

His decision, shared in a July 2024 interview with The Guardian, echoed similar concerns about safety and media intrusion.

A New Chapter for Lohan

For Lindsay Lohan, life in Dubai marks a new chapter filled with personal peace and professional revival.

Now a mother, she is focused on building a life that prioritizes her child, her privacy, and her passion for acting — on her own terms.
