Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly reversed their decision on goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, with the Rwandan international now expected to remain at the Soweto giants for the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season.
Transfer Rumours Fizzle Out
For months, Ntwari had been linked with a move away, with Tanzanian heavyweights Young Africans and Simba SC said to be interested in his signature.
However, the club has now opted to retain him, adding depth and competition to their goalkeeping department alongside Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma.
Career at Amakhosi
Ntwari joined Kaizer Chiefs from TS Galaxy after making 21 appearances for the Mpumalanga-based side.
Since moving to Soweto, he has seen limited action, often playing behind the team’s preferred shot-stoppers.
Competition Between the Posts
According to a source speaking to Soccer Laduma, Chiefs view Ntwari’s international experience as an asset.
“They want him to push Brandon Petersen for the starting spot,” the source explained. “He plays for the Rwanda national team, and the club values that competition.”
No Guaranteed Starters
The insider added that while Petersen may remain first choice, Ntwari must also challenge Bruce Bvuma for game time.
“Nothing is guaranteed,” the source noted. “The club wants him to stay and compete.”
