NNPP Rejects APC Victory in Kano Tsanyawa/Ghari Re-Run Election

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano has formally rejected the outcome of the Tsanyawa/Ghari State Assembly re-run election.

The party insists that the poll was rigged and plans to challenge the results in court.

Party’s Court Challenge

NNPP announced it will approach the courts to contest the declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate as the winner.

Statement from NNPP Kano Chairman

Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, Kano State Chairman of the NNPP, highlighted the party’s achievements in the re-run and by-elections at Tsanyawa/Ghari and Shanono/Bagwai constituencies.

He stressed that manipulations against the NNPP candidate in Tsanyawa/Ghari cannot be accepted.

Rejection of INEC Declaration

The party rejected the election results declared at the INEC Headquarters in Kano.

NNPP also cancelled the 10 polling units that the Appeal Court had nullified and ordered a fresh election for.

Allegations of Voter Suppression

Dungurawa alleged that voters were denied the right to vote despite massive turnout in support of the NNPP candidate.

He claimed that some politicians colluded with INEC officials to declare the APC candidate the winner.

Concerns Over Election Procedure

NNPP criticized INEC for announcing results at the state headquarters instead of the constituency collation centers.

The party argued this allowed room for manipulation and reversal of court-ordered rerun results.

Commitment to Fighting Injustice

Dungurawa emphasized that NNPP will continue to combat election manipulation, favoritism, and any attempt to disenfranchise Kano residents using federal influence.

Presiding Officers’ Authority Highlighted

The NNPP chairman pointed out that presiding officers at polling units had already signed election results and have the sole authority to cancel elections—not INEC headquarters.

Positive Notes on Shanono/Bagwai By-Election

Dungurawa acknowledged the credibility of the Shanono/Bagwai by-election, noting that declaring results at collation centers prevented manipulation by APC.

Appreciation to Constituents and Security Agencies

NNPP expressed gratitude to voters, stakeholders, and security agencies for ensuring peaceful re-run and by-elections in Kano.
