Kaizer Chiefs have been without their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, since the beginning of the season.
The 60-year-old Tunisian tactician traveled out of South Africa earlier this month due to a family emergency, leaving his assistant, Khalil Ben Youssef, in charge.
Chiefs Maintain Winning Run Under Ben Youssef
Despite Nabi’s absence, Kaizer Chiefs have enjoyed a perfect start to the campaign.
The team has won their opening two league matches and currently sits at the top of the Betway Premiership standings.
Nabi Still Involved From Afar
Assistant coach Ben Youssef revealed that Nabi remains actively engaged with the technical team even while abroad.
He explained that the head coach participates in daily discussions and strategy meetings via Zoom to guide preparations.
Technical Team United in Nabi’s Absence
Ben Youssef emphasized that the coaching staff is united and continues to function effectively as a team.
“Coach Nabi is not here physically, but we prepare the team together and support each other,” he told reporters.
Nabi Misses Matches But May Return Soon
Nabi, who led the squad during their pre-season in the Netherlands, has now missed two league games and will also be absent when Chiefs face Richards Bay on Tuesday.
The club has not confirmed when he will return, but there is speculation he could be back in time for the high-profile clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Trophy-Winning Coach Still Valued
Nabi made history by ending Kaizer Chiefs’ 10-year trophy drought when he guided them to victory in the Nedbank Cup.
