The Zamfara Good Governance Group (ZGGG) has declared that despite attempts by the state’s deputy governor, chief of staff, commissioners, and other senior government officials to influence the outcome of the recently concluded by-election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) emerged victorious.
The group applauded party members and supporters for their resilience in defending their votes and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain transparent to ensure that the final results reflect the will of the people.
ZGGG Commends Defence Minister Matawalle’s Role
In a statement issued on Sunday, ZGGG President, Murtala Abdullahi, praised the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for sustaining the APC’s grassroots strength in Zamfara State.
He noted that Matawalle’s leadership and loyalty to the party have kept it vibrant even after leaving office as governor two years ago.
Abdullahi said independent observers’ reports confirmed Matawalle’s enduring political influence and commitment to the APC.
Matawalle’s Grassroots Connection Strengthens APC
Abdullahi stressed that Matawalle’s strong connection with the people of Zamfara continues to inspire confidence in the APC.
He explained that the structures and trust built during Matawalle’s tenure as governor have ensured the party’s dominance in the state’s political landscape.
Call for Transparency in Supplementary Election
The group condemned irregularities that led INEC to declare the by-election inconclusive and emphasized that democracy must be protected.
It called on INEC to guarantee that the supplementary election will be free, fair, and credible.
The group also urged security agencies to provide adequate protection for voters in the rerun to prevent intimidation or manipulation.
APC Urged to Consolidate Unity Ahead of Future Elections
ZGGG encouraged APC members and stakeholders in Zamfara to remain united and focused on service delivery for the collective interest of the people.
It added that Matawalle’s accessibility and commitment at both federal and state levels continue to keep the party machinery strong.
Abdullahi assured that the final outcome of the election would confirm the will of the people and reaffirm APC’s dominance in Zamfara politics.
