The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned four security guards before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, sitting at Tinubu, for allegedly burgling their employer’s residence and carting away valuables worth N100 million.
Defendants and Charges
The defendants were identified as Natufo Olufemi, Tomiwa Teojon, Uche Peter, and Adam Mohammed, who was alleged to be the receiver of the stolen goods.
They were accused of breaking into the home of Princess Chichi Ojei in GRA, Ikeja, while she was away.
Details of the Incident
According to the charge sheet, the burglary occurred between January and July 2025 at 11A/11B Sasegbon Street, GRA, Ikeja.
The guards allegedly conspired to ransack the residence and later sold the stolen items to Mohammed before fleeing.
Employer’s Petition and Police Investigation
Upon her return, Princess Ojei discovered that her home had been vandalised and her guards had absconded.
She petitioned the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke Fayoade, who immediately ordered a discreet investigation.
Detectives acting on intelligence tracked the suspects to a hideout in Lagos and arrested them.
Court Proceedings
The four defendants were charged with conspiracy, burglary, and stealing, offences punishable under Sections 411, 307, 287, and 410 of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.
Police Prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Haruna told the court that the defendants “deliberately breached the trust of their employer by conspiring to steal her property.”
Defendants Plead Not Guilty
The defendants pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against them.
Presiding Chief Magistrate O.O. Olatunji granted each defendant bail in the sum of N5 million, with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until October 17, 2025, for further hearing
