
The Jigawa State Government has announced that Wednesday, August 27, 2025, will be a work-free day in celebration of the state’s 34th anniversary.
Official Statement from the Government
This was confirmed in a statement issued by the State Head of Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, and released to the press through the Public Relations Officer of the Office of the Head of Service, Ismaila Ibrahim Dutse.
Call for Prayers and Gratitude
The government congratulated the people of Jigawa and encouraged them to use the day to pray for the progress of the state and Nigeria as a whole.
The statement further urged citizens to show gratitude to Almighty Allah for His blessings and the peace enjoyed in the state.
Historical Background of Jigawa
Jigawa State was created on August 27, 1991, by former Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida after it was carved out of the old Kano State.
