Abuja: Shehu Sani Urges Tinubu to Pay Super Falcons $100,000 Each

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has called on President Bola Tinubu to honour his financial pledge to Nigeria’s Super Falcons.

Reaction to Rasheedat Ajibade’s Statement

Sani’s appeal came after Super Falcons forward, Rasheedat Ajibade, revealed that the players had not yet received the money promised by the president following their victory at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Details of Tinubu’s Pledge

President Tinubu had promised $100,000 to each of the 24 players and $50,000 to each member of the technical team. In addition, every player and crew member is to receive a three-bedroom flat.

Falcons Yet to Receive Payment

Ajibade’s disclosure that the team is still awaiting payment has stirred concern among fans and stakeholders.

Sani’s Call for Urgent Action

Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Sani described the delay as surprising and urged the Federal Government to act swiftly.
“Reading that The Falcons are yet to receive the $100k is shocking. I urge the FG to fast-track and redeem the pledge made to The Falcons and D’Tigress. Waiting for money is mentally stressful,” he wrote.
