Akwa Ibom EFCC arrests seven over internet fraud in Uyo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has confirmed the arrest of seven individuals allegedly linked to internet fraud in Akwa Ibom State.

According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the suspects were picked up during a sting operation carried out in the early hours of Monday.

Sting Operation in Uyo Estates

The operation took place at Uyeh Heaven Estate and Ayam Estate, both located along Ring Road 3 in Uyo, the state capital.

Arrest Based on Actionable Intelligence

EFCC stated that the arrests followed actionable intelligence suggesting the suspects’ involvement in internet-related crimes.

Items Recovered During Operation

The commission disclosed that items seized from the suspects included five laptops, 10 mobile phones, and one iPad.

Suspects to Face Court

The agency assured that the suspects will be charged to court once investigations are finalized.
