Auchi: Activist Alleges Dangote Abandoned Student Injured by Truck

Popular social media activist and commentator, Martins Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has accused the Dangote Group of abandoning a 22-year-old woman who was allegedly crushed by one of the company’s truck drivers in Auchi, Edo State.

Victim Hospitalised for 11 Months with Huge Medical Bills

In a video shared via his Instagram story on Monday, VDM revealed that the young woman has been receiving treatment at the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital for nearly a year, with unpaid medical bills exceeding ₦5 million. He stated that she was on her way to defend her school project when the accident occurred.

VDM Demands Accountability from Dangote Group

The activist alleged that the truck driver was reckless and unlicensed. He demanded that Dangote Group take responsibility for the medical bills of all victims of accidents involving its trucks. He also threatened to block the movement of Dangote trucks in Auchi until the matter is resolved.

Previous Case Involving BBNaija Winner’s Sister

The allegation comes just days after Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna Otabor, accused Dangote Group of negligence after her sister, Ruth, was hit by a Dangote truck in Auchi. Following public outcry, Dangote Group issued a statement three days ago pledging to cover all medical expenses for Ruth Otabor.

Dangote Refinery Truck Deployment Still on Hold

Meanwhile, the controversy coincides with Dangote Refinery’s plan to roll out 4,000 new compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks for nationwide fuel distribution. Although the scheme was scheduled to begin on August 15, 2025, it has been delayed due to unresolved issues with truck numbering, according to the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN).

Dangote Group Yet to Respond

As of press time, Dangote Group has not released any statement addressing VDM’s latest allegations.
