Bahamas: U.S. Tourist Attacked by Shark While Spearfishing Near Abaco

A 63-year-old U.S. tourist was attacked by a shark while spearfishing in the waters near Big Grand Cay, Abaco, on Sunday, August 17.

The attack happened shortly after 1 p.m. local time, according to a statement from the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF).

Victim’s Condition

Police said the man sustained “severe injuries” in the incident. He was first transported to a nearby clinic for emergency treatment before being airlifted to the United States for further medical care. His current condition has not been disclosed.
