The 2026 edition of the Two Oceans Marathon has officially been scheduled for the weekend of April 11–12.
This iconic Cape Town race, known as “the world’s most beautiful marathon,” will take place just one week after the Easter holidays.
A Legacy of Endurance and Scenic Beauty
For nearly fifty years, the Two Oceans has stood as both a test of endurance and a postcard image of Cape Town’s natural beauty.
The marathon now moves into a new phase with the appointment of Stillwater Sports as the official staging and commercial partner.
Stillwater Sports Takes the Baton
Stillwater Sports, organisers of some of South Africa’s most prominent mass-participation events, will oversee not only the race itself but also its commercial growth.
Chris Goldschmidt, Chairperson of the Two Oceans Marathon NPC, said the partnership represents “a significant step forward in ensuring the marathon’s future as a world-class event.”
He expressed confidence that the 2026 edition will “set new benchmarks for excellence and inclusivity.”
Logistics Behind the Marathon
Planning the Two Oceans is no small feat.
It involves road closures, hydration points, safety measures, and meeting the high expectations of thousands of runners from across the globe.
Stillwater Sports Ready for the Challenge
Stillwater Sports is not new to major sporting events.
The company has built a reputation for precision and innovation in delivering mass-participation spectacles.
Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports, said they are “honoured to be entrusted with the staging and commercial delivery of the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon.”
He added that their focus will be on “delivering an excellent runner experience and increasing runner value.”
Raising the Bar
The challenge for organisers is to take an event already celebrated worldwide and make it even more appealing in a modern era where marathons also boost local economies and showcase South Africa globally.
What to Expect in 2026
With entries set to open in the coming months, there are whispers of new features and runner benefits.
This suggests that the 2026 marathon will not just be another race around the Peninsula but the beginning of a new chapter of reinvention.
