Sean “Diddy” Combs’ criminal trial took a dramatic turn as Cassie Ventura’s mother, Regina Ventura, gave emotional testimony in a Manhattan federal courtroom.
Wrapped in a beige shawl, she calmly described a heated confrontation with the hip-hop mogul in August 2016.
The incident occurred when she visited her daughter in Los Angeles and learned that Combs had allegedly taken Cassie’s phone.
A Physical Confrontation Over a Stolen Phone
According to Regina, Cassie was upstairs in her apartment when Combs took her phone.
Regina recounted that she had to call the police and confront Combs directly outside the building.
“I was yelling and screaming and trying to hit him,” she told jurors.
Eventually, she said, Combs returned the phone.
Revisiting the 2011 Kid Cudi Affair
The testimony also brought back allegations from 2011, when Cassie had a brief affair with rapper Kid Cudi.
Regina Ventura recalled a Blackberry message from her daughter at the time, in which Combs allegedly made threats involving revenge porn and physical harm.
These threats came after he discovered Cassie’s romantic involvement with Cudi.
Demands for Money and Fear for Safety
Regina testified that after the 2011 incident, Combs demanded $20,000 for supposed unpaid “expenses.”
To fulfill the demand, she borrowed against her Connecticut home — the family’s residence for 57 years.
“He was angry he spent money on her and she had been with another person,” she said.
When asked why she sent the money, she responded, “I was scared for my daughter’s safety.”
The money was returned by Combs four to five days later, though no explanation was provided.
Cassie’s Harrowing Testimony and Her Role in the Trial
Regina Ventura’s testimony followed four days of emotional testimony from her daughter, Cassie Ventura.
Cassie appeared in court eight months pregnant with her third child by husband Alex Fine.
She described her 11-year relationship with Combs as abusive and controlling.
She testified about drug-fueled sex parties Combs called “freak offs,” during which she said she felt “worthless.”
According to prosecutors, these events were arranged, directed, and recorded by Combs himself.
Core Allegations in the Case Against Combs
Federal prosecutors allege that Combs used “lies, drugs, threats, and violence” to force both Cassie and another woman, known only as Jane Doe, into these sex acts.
These disturbing encounters are central to the racketeering and sex-trafficking charges now facing the music mogul.
