David Beckham to Be Knighted by King Charles in 2025

David Beckham is reportedly set to receive a knighthood in King Charles III’s birthday honours list next week.

The honour will officially recognise his legendary football career and longstanding contributions to British society.

According to reports from the BBC and The Times, the 50-year-old former footballer will join the ranks of Britain’s knights, more than two decades after receiving his OBE.

With this recognition, his wife Victoria Beckham will earn the title “Lady Beckham”.

David’s representatives have not yet commented publicly on the news as of June 6.

A Long-Awaited Honour

Beckham was first nominated for a knighthood back in 2011, according to The Guardian.

Despite earlier delays, largely believed to be linked to issues regarding tax matters, he remained a fan favourite and a strong candidate for royal recognition.

Now, with the nod from King Charles III, his name is finally expected to appear in the upcoming birthday honours list.

From Football Star to National Treasure

David Beckham earned over 100 caps playing for England’s national team.

He also had a successful club career with major teams including Manchester United, Real Madrid, LA Galaxy, AC Milan, and Paris Saint-Germain.

He is currently a co-owner of Inter Miami CF and Salford City.

But beyond the pitch, Beckham has built a reputation as a devoted humanitarian and public figure.

Royal and Charitable Connections

David received an OBE (Order of the British Empire) in 2003.

Since 2005, he has served as a global ambassador for UNICEF, championing causes related to child welfare and development.

He also played a key role in promoting the 2012 London Olympics.

In 2024, he became an ambassador for the King’s Foundation — a charitable organisation focused on education, youth empowerment, and sustainability.

In a statement at the time, Beckham said:

“I’ve always been keen to help young people to expand their horizons and I’m particularly looking forward to supporting the Foundation’s education programs and its efforts to ensure young people have greater access to nature.”

He also added a personal note about his connection to rural life, saying:

“Having developed a love for the countryside, I’m also on a personal mission to learn more about rural skills which is so central to the Foundation’s work.”

Strong Ties to the Royal Family

David Beckham has made several high-profile appearances at royal events in recent years.

In December 2024, he and Victoria attended a State Banquet at Buckingham Palace during the visit of the Amir of Qatar.

He was also present at the King’s Foundation charity awards in June 2024.

The pair attended the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show in May 2025, where Beckham wore a rose named in King Charles’ honour.

In February 2025, David and Victoria were guests at a special UK–Italy dinner held at Highgrove House.

His repeated appearances alongside the King and Queen Camilla underline his growing closeness to the Royal Family.

What This Means for Victoria Beckham

As David is expected to be knighted, Victoria Beckham will receive the courtesy title “Lady Beckham.”

This title is not a peerage but reflects her husband’s elevated status and the prestige that comes with it.

Together, they are likely to continue their roles as one of Britain’s most influential power couples — now with added royal distinction.

A Knight of Football and Philanthropy

David Beckham’s knighthood is more than a personal milestone.

It is a recognition of decades of sporting excellence, public service, and national pride.

From his legendary free kicks to his tireless charity work, Beckham continues to prove himself as more than just a footballer — he is a symbol of British legacy on the global stage.

As King Charles prepares to formally honour him, the nation will witness the crowning of “Sir David Beckham” — a moment long awaited by fans across the UK and beyond.
