
The Enugu State Police Command has detained six male suspects over alleged robbery, motorcycle theft, and cult-related activities during multiple operations across the state.
Recovery of Weapons and Stolen Items
Police recovered two firearms, seven live rounds of ammunition, a stolen motorcycle, and other incriminating items from the suspects.
Statement from Police Spokesman
SP Daniel Ndukwe, the command’s spokesman, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued on Sunday in Enugu.
Crack Tactical Squad Interception
On August 13 at 10:30 p.m., operatives from the Crack Tactical Squad, during a routine patrol in Abakpa, intercepted a suspect riding a motorcycle and acting suspiciously.
A search revealed a locally fabricated pistol loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, hidden in a black bag.
Anti-Cultism Squad Operation
In a separate operation on August 10 at around 5:00 a.m., the command’s Anti-Cultism Squad, acting on confessions from two notorious robbery suspects, arrested three additional men.
The suspects, aged between 22 and 24, admitted to being members of the Black Axe Confraternity.
Recovered items included one locally made single-barrel pistol, one expended cartridge, three blue candlesticks, and quantities of suspected cannabis.
Oji-River Division Arrest
On August 9 at 12:45 p.m., two male suspects were apprehended by operatives from the Oji-River Police Division while attempting to sell a stolen Topway motorcycle.
The suspects confessed to robbing a commercial motorcyclist of the bike the previous night.
Investigations Ongoing
Police confirmed that discreet investigations into all cases are ongoing.
The detained suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of the investigations.
