Enugu State Sees Federal Government Pledge Completion of Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its dedication to completing Section Three of the 61-kilometre Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway on schedule in Enugu State.

The assurance was given by Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, during a project inspection on Wednesday.

This visit was part of a broader citizens’ engagement tour of the South East region.


Importance of Modern Road Infrastructure

According to Idris, as reported by his media aide, Rabiu Ibrahim, modern highways play a key role in economic growth, road safety, and citizens’ overall welfare.

He emphasized that the project demonstrates the government’s commitment to completing strategic roads across Nigeria for the benefit of all citizens.


Project Details

The ₦100.8 billion project is being handled by CGC Nigeria Limited and spans a dual carriageway of 122 kilometres in total.

Engineer Tony Mbiko, Director of Highways (South East), confirmed that the Enugu-bound section has already been completed, while work continues on the remaining portion of the expressway.


Federal Government Assurance

The FG has pledged to ensure that the Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway is finished on schedule, underscoring its commitment to road development in the South East.
