Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl will run at 4K 60FPS on the PS5 Pro across both quality and performance modes.
The game’s technical producer, Yevhenii Kulyk, confirmed the update in an interview with TechRadar Gaming at Gamescom 2025.
Current Performance on PS5
At present, the base PS5 version offers quality mode at 4K 30FPS and performance mode at 2K 60FPS.
However, GSC Game World is aiming to raise the performance to 4K 60FPS at launch.
Kulyk noted that the goal is to achieve parity between both versions to give players a smoother experience.
Enhancements for PS5 Pro
The PS5 Pro edition will receive upgraded scalability settings.
This includes improved shadow quality, upgraded VFX, shading techniques, and volumetric features such as clouds and lighting.
These tweaks aim to create a more immersive atmosphere compared to the standard PS5 edition.
Developer Insights on Performance
Kulyk explained that while both versions will be well-optimized, the Pro version will allow players to enjoy richer environments.
Zakhar Bocharov, GSC Game World’s communications director, added that he considers PS5 Pro quality mode “the most beautiful version.”
Nonetheless, he prefers performance mode for the stable 60FPS gameplay.
Release Timeline
Stalker 2 is already available on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox Game Pass, and PC.
The game will officially launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro on November 20, 2025.
