Gauteng Forecast Predicts Mild Weather on Thursday

Gauteng is set for mild and mostly dry weather on Thursday, 14 August.

Maximum temperatures in Johannesburg and Pretoria are expected to reach around 24°C.

Morning Fog Advisories

Forecaster Phemelo Zonke warned that while Gauteng will largely remain clear, neighbouring areas may experience morning fog.

“Some parts of Limpopo may have reduced visibility of less than a kilometre. Motorists should drive cautiously and maintain safe distances,” Zonke advised.

Cold Front Impacts Surrounding Provinces

A cold front currently located southeast of South Africa is bringing showers and thundershowers to the eastern Northern Cape, southern Free State, KwaZulu-Natal, and the Eastern Cape.

Gauteng, however, will mostly enjoy fine to partly cloudy conditions with cool to warm temperatures.

Minimal Rain Expected in Gauteng

Zonke emphasized that central and southeastern regions are more affected by the weather system, leaving Gauteng with stable and mostly dry conditions.

Fire Risk Warnings

The South African Weather Service has issued a high fire danger warning for the northeastern Northern Cape.

Although Gauteng is not directly affected, authorities remind residents to avoid activities that could spark fires.

Road Safety Tips

Motorists travelling in or out of Gauteng and nearby provinces should remain alert for foggy conditions and drive with extra caution.

Residents Can Expect Stable Weather

For most of Gauteng, the forecast predicts pleasant, calm weather, making it suitable for outdoor activities.

Temperature Overview

Daytime highs are expected to peak at 24°C, with cooler mornings and mild evenings across the province.
