
The Director General of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Dr. Abisoye Fagade, has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s failure to secure victory in the recent Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election shows the party must intensify efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Fagade: Party Has Lessons to Learn
Speaking on Monday at the inauguration of President Bola Tinubu’s second-term campaign office in Lagelu Local Government Area, Fagade stressed that the defeat was a wake-up call. He assured that the party had drawn valuable lessons and would emerge stronger in future contests.
PDP Candidate Defeats APC in Bye-Election
In the bye-election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Folajimi Oyekunle, triumphed over APC’s Adewale Haastrup Olatunji and other contenders.
Tinubu’s Second Term Non-Negotiable – Adeseun
Senator Hamzat Ademola Adeseun, who also attended the event alongside other APC chieftains, declared that Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 was beyond negotiation. He noted that APC’s overall performance in the nationwide bye-elections—winning 12 out of 16 seats—was proof of growing support across Nigeria.
Campaign Coordinator Defends Tinubu’s Policies
Coordinator of the campaign team, Sikiru Adebayo, stated that President Tinubu is focused on addressing challenges inherited from past administrations. He urged Nigerians to give the president more time to deliver sustainable reforms.
