Iperu-Remo Ogun Governor Praises Peaceful Conduct in Remo By-Election

Remo federal constituency bye-election: Abiodun applauds peaceful conduct

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has commended the people of Remoland for their orderly and peaceful behavior during the ongoing Remo Federal Constituency by-election into the House of Representatives.

The governor expressed his approval after casting his vote at Polling Unit 002, Ita Osanyin Ward, Iperu-Remo, at 10:33 am.

Timely Delivery of Election Materials

Abiodun lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for ensuring the prompt arrival of election materials at polling units.

He stated, “I have just gladly exercised my franchise. I must say that I am quite impressed. The feedback I have gotten so far is that electoral materials arrived at the various polling units on time.”

High Voter Turnout and Orderly Process

The governor noted the surprisingly high voter turnout and peaceful conduct of citizens.

He observed, “Everybody seems to be going about voting orderly, peacefully.”

Minor Challenges With BVAS Machines

Abiodun acknowledged minor issues with the BVAS machines, particularly in capturing facial images, but expressed confidence that INEC had measures in place to resolve them.

He added, “There are issues here and there where maybe because of the weather, the BVAS machine takes a bit of time in capturing facial recognition images and registering it. But I believe between thumb printing and facial recognition, somewhere, they are managing along.”

Continuous Improvement in Election Management

The governor praised INEC for ongoing improvements in election management and quality of service.

He noted, “So far, everything looks so good and I want to thank INEC for being on top of their game as usual. Year in, year out, they are improving on the quality of the services they are rendering.”

Abiodun emphasized the peaceful environment, saying, “For now, everything appears to be going on well. There is peace here, there is no rancour, and there is no fighting.”

Background of the By-Election

The Remo Federal Constituency by-election was organized following the death of Hon. Adewunmi Onanuga earlier this year.

INEC commenced preparations promptly to ensure a smooth electoral process.
