Johannesburg: Kaizer Chiefs Close in on Second Striker After Flavio Silva Signing

Kaizer Chiefs have already sharpened their frontline with the signing of Portuguese striker Flavio Silva, but the Naturena hierarchy isn’t done yet. Another forward is expected to arrive before the transfer window closes.

Last Season’s Lessons Push for More Firepower

After missing out on the top eight last season, Amakhosi learned the hard way that goals win games. Despite several new arrivals this campaign, the attack still lacks the cutting edge needed to challenge at the top.

Nabi Confirms Striker Hunt

Head coach Nasreddine Nabi has confirmed that Chiefs are targeting another striker, with Etiosa Ighodaro of Mamelodi Sundowns high on the shortlist.

“Ighodaro is a good player, but he belongs to another team, and there are administrative issues involved. If he joins us, great. If not, there are other strikers we’re considering,” Nabi explained.

Chiefs Prepared with Plan B

The Tunisian tactician stressed that the club has a backup plan should Ighodaro’s transfer prove difficult.

“The player—or another striker on our list—will be welcomed. But we must wait for the administrative side of things to be sorted before anything is finalised,” Nabi added.

Amakhosi Open Their New Campaign

Kaizer Chiefs kick off the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season with an away clash against Stellenbosch FC at Athlone Stadium. Fans will be eager to see if a new striker will join Silva in leading the line.
