Kebbi Emir of Zuru Sani Sami Dies in London at 81

The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major General Muhammadu Sani Sami (Rtd.), also known as Gomo II, has passed away in London after a brief illness.
He died at the age of 81.

Family Confirms Passing

His family announced his death on Sunday, describing him as a leader who combined an illustrious military career with decades of dedicated service to his people.

Early Life and Military Career

Born on October 24, 1943, Sani Sami enlisted in the Nigerian Army on December 10, 1962.
He received his training at the Mons Officer Cadet School in Aldershot, United Kingdom, and was commissioned on July 25, 1963.

Service in the Army

Throughout his military career, Sani Sami served with distinction and held several key appointments.
He rose through the ranks, serving as Commander of the Brigade of Guards under the administration of General Murtala Mohammed.
He was later appointed as the Military Governor of Bauchi State in December 1983.

Transition to Royal Leadership

Following his retirement from the army, he returned home and was enthroned as the Emir of Zuru.
He was admired for his simplicity, discipline, and commitment to preserving the traditions and cultural heritage of the Zuru Emirate.

Funeral Arrangements

The Zuru Emirate Council announced that funeral arrangements will be made public in due course.
