Lagos – Actress Bimbo Akintola says 90% of Nigerian men cheat

Nollywood star Bimbo Akintola has said that infidelity and polygamy will continue to remain part of Nigerian society.

She made the statement during a podcast conversation with fellow actress Ayo Adesanya.

Majority of Nigerian Men Allegedly Cheat

According to Akintola, about 90 to 99 percent of Nigerian men engage in cheating.

She stressed that the act has become normalized due to cultural and generational influence.

Infidelity Linked to Family Background

The actress explained that many men learn cheating behaviors from their fathers.

She pointed out that in some homes, fathers openly keep multiple partners, making it easy for their sons to adopt the same pattern.

Fidelity Difficult to Expect from Nigerian Men

Akintola emphasized that the cultural acceptance of polygamy makes it hard for women to expect complete faithfulness in relationships.

She added that some men even follow their fathers to visit girlfriends at a young age, shaping their mindset early.

Actress Calls for Realistic Expectations

The 55-year-old noted that characters are formed at a young age, often before the age of seven.

She explained that while women may hope to change men, the behavior is already deeply ingrained.

Not an Excuse, But Reality

Akintola clarified that her statement should not be seen as an excuse for infidelity.

She said her views are based on realism about Nigerian cultural and social patterns.
