
The Lagos State Judiciary has unveiled the official schedule of activities to mark the commencement of the 2025/2026 Legal Year, under the leadership of Chief Judge, Justice Kareem Olanrewaju Alogba.
Interfaith Services to Open Legal Year
According to an official statement, the ceremonies will begin on Monday, September 22, 2025, with interfaith thanksgiving services. Both Muslim and Christian prayers will hold simultaneously at 10:00 a.m., at the Central Mosque, Nnamdi Azikiwe Street, and the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina. The services are designed to express gratitude and seek divine direction for the judiciary’s duties in the new legal year.
Legal Year Summit Scheduled for September 23
The Judiciary further announced that the 2025/2026 Legal Year Summit will take place on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at The Shell Zenith Bank Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos. The summit, starting at 10:00 a.m., will gather judges, lawyers, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss pressing issues and reforms in justice administration.
Commitment to Rule of Law and Access to Justice
Reiterating its pledge to strengthen access to justice and uphold the rule of law, the Lagos State Judiciary described the annual legal year celebration as a demonstration of its commitment to judicial excellence.
Call for Public Participation
The Judiciary encouraged legal practitioners, invited guests, and members of the public to actively engage in the upcoming events.
