London: Arsenal legend Wright sends advice to Gyokeres after Man United debut

EPL: ‘You’re mirroring me’ – Ian Wright reveals his message to Gyokeres after Man United game

Arsenal legend, Ian Wright, has revealed that he sent a personal message to new signing Viktor Gyokeres after the striker’s Premier League debut against Manchester United on Sunday.

The Swedish forward joined Arsenal from Sporting CP for a reported €63 million and featured in the Gunners’ league opener at the Emirates Stadium.

Wright’s Special Message to the Striker

Speaking in an interview quoted by TBR Football, Wright explained that he keeps in touch with players in the Arsenal squad.

He noted that he had already opened a dialogue with Gyokeres and encouraged him to work hard and stay confident.

“I’ve got a kind of dialogue with literally every player in that dressing room.

I could send a message, they’ll send a message back, and I’ve already sent my messages to Viktor and he’s already sent them back to me,” Wright said.

“You’re Mirroring Me” – Wright’s Advice

Wright revealed that he told Gyokeres he was “mirroring” him, urging the Swedish international to believe in himself despite the challenges of joining such a talented squad.

He added that adapting to playing alongside stars like Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, Declan Rice, and Mikel Zubimendi could feel overwhelming, but Gyokeres must rely on the same self-belief that carried him through difficult times.

Wright’s Legacy at Arsenal

Ian Wright played for Arsenal between 1991 and 1998, scoring 185 goals and providing 31 assists in 288 appearances.

His legacy and influence at the club continue to inspire current and new players.
