Mama June Fears Daughter Alana Could Suffer Amid Boyfriend Dralin’s Legal Battle

Mama June Shannon is deeply worried that her daughter, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, might become collateral damage in the legal issues facing her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell.

Her concerns surfaced during the June 6 episode of Mama June: Family Crisis, after the couple attended an emergency meeting with Dralin’s attorney.

They learned Dralin could face up to 10 years in prison if his case goes to trial following his March 2023 DUI arrest.

The arrest involved charges for DUI, fleeing police, and outstanding warrants after a three-mile car chase in Monroe County, Georgia.

Alana was a passenger during the incident but was not charged.

After the meeting, Alana realized their future plans could be drastically affected if Dralin were to serve a decade behind bars.

She expressed, “10 years is insane to me, like we had things that we wanted to do in 10 years from now, we wanted to be able to honestly buy a house, I would already be a nurse, talking about kids and weddings and stuff from 10 years from now.”

She continued, “And it’s like, now we kind of have to reroute and just think about what would our life be 10 years from now if he got sentenced to 10 years?”

During a car ride with Dralin, Alana confessed her nervousness about a potential trial.

“It’s breaking my heart,” she told him. “They don’t need to give you 10 years. If they give you 10 years, I’m gonna have to tell them that I’m gonna have to serve with you.”

Alana also updated her sister Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird about the legal troubles Dralin is facing.

Pumpkin responded by asking, “What are you gonna do? Sit here and harp and wait on him for 10 years? Girl, you have a life to live.”

Alana was taken aback by her sister’s reaction. In a confessional, she said, “This is a little weird. Where’s the Pumpkin that I was like, ‘Oh, you and [Dralin] will be fine. Me and Josh got together at a young age. Y’all will be fine.’ Doesn’t seem like Pumpkin. There’s something going on, and I will get to the bottom of it.”

Alana then challenged her sister, asking, “Wouldn’t you wait 10 years on Josh?” referring to Pumpkin’s husband Josh Efird.

Pumpkin replied, “Probably not.”

Later in the episode, Mama June asked Alana about the meeting and its implications for her daughter’s future — including whether she planned to stay in Colorado if Dralin went to prison.

“Honestly, if Dralin goes to jail and Alana ends up giving up her nursing career, it would be the most stupidest thing ever,” Mama June said.

She reflected on her own past relationships, saying, “I used to put men first and what they wanted and all that, and gave [up] a lot of my life, but I hope that she does not do that.”

Mama June: Family Crisis airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET on WEtv.
