The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the full timetable for the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
This year’s SSCE for school candidates is scheduled to run from Monday, June 16 to Friday, July 25.
The examination is intended for final-year secondary school students across Nigeria.
It includes both core and elective subjects, and each subject is assigned a unique paper code, time, and duration.
Below is a breakdown of the NECO SSCE timetable from June 16 through July 9, 2025:
From Monday, 16th June to Friday, 20th June:
This period is designated for various practical and performance-based examinations.
Subjects include Physical Education, Auto Mechanics, Woodwork, Home Management, Foods and Nutrition, and several technical and vocational courses.
Each subject has specific durations, ranging from 1 hour 30 minutes to as long as 6 hours for hands-on assessments.
Some practicals, such as Physical Education, will have dates and times fixed by the Council later.
Monday, 23rd June:
- Data Processing (Paper I: Practical) – 3 hours
Time: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Tuesday, 24th June:
- French (Written Expression – Paper II: 1 hr; Paper III: 1 hr 45 mins)
Time: Starts at 10:00 am - Music (Objective & Essay – 2:00 pm to 3:40 pm)
- Electronics Practical – 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Wednesday, 25th June:
- Arabic and History written papers take place
Arabic (Objective, Essay & Literature – 3 hrs 30 mins from 10:00 am)
History (Objective & Essay – 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm)
Thursday, 26th June:
A large number of technical subjects are scheduled with both objective and essay components.
Examples include Auto Electrical Work, Welding & Fabrication, Plumbing, Furniture Making, Catering, Cosmetology, and many others.
Most of these exams start at 10:00 am and run between 2 to 3 hours.
Friday, 27th June:
- Practical exams for Biology and Chemistry
Time: 10:00 am – 12:00 noon for both
Monday, 30th June:
- Store Management and Auto Mechanics (Objective & Essay)
Exams run from 2:00 pm to around 4:40 pm
Tuesday, 1st July:
- Geography (Objective & Practical/Physical) – 10:00 am
- Nigerian languages like Hausa, Igbo, Yoruba, and others (Objective & Essay) – 2:00 pm
Wednesday, 2nd July:
- English Language (Objective, Essay & Test of Orals)
Objective: 10:00 am – 11:00 am
Essay: 11:15 am – 1:00 pm
Orals: 1:15 pm – 2:00 pm - Insurance (Objective & Essay) – 2:20 pm – 5:00 pm
Thursday, 3rd July:
- Physics Practical – 10:00 am – 12:45 pm
- Government and Electronics written exams follow in the afternoon
Friday, 4th July:
- Human and Regional Geography (Essay) – 10:00 am – 12:00 noon
Monday, 7th July:
- Technical Drawing (Practical) and Literature in English (Drama & Poetry) – Morning session
- Biology (Objective & Essay) – 2:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Tuesday, 8th July:
- Computer Studies Practical – 10:00 am
- Chemistry (Objective & Essay) – 10:00 am – 1:00 pm
- Literature in English (Objective & Prose) – 2:00 pm – 4:15 pm
Wednesday, 9th July:
Several 6-hour practical exhibitions are scheduled in Painting & Decoration, Dyeing & Bleaching, Printing, Photography, and Leatherwork.
In addition, Mining and Fisheries practicals will also take place during the morning session.
