New York: StockX Reports Snoafers Outselling Retail as New Balance Leads Trend

Young people are splurging on sneaker loafers. See 3 styles of business casual 'snoafers' that resell at a premium.

According to sneaker marketplace StockX, New Balance has dominated recent sales thanks to the release of its 1906L snoafer, a sneaker-loafer hybrid that has surged in popularity.

What Are Snoafers?

Snoafers — a blend of sneakers and loafers — combine professional style with the comfort of athletic soles. They’re aimed at a younger audience eager to blur the line between workwear and casual fashion.

Demand Outpaces Supply

Many snoafers are selling above retail value on StockX, signaling strong demand.

“When a shoe carries that kind of premium, it proves there’s genuine interest,” said Brendan Dunne, Senior Director of Customer Community & Engagement at StockX.

Divided Opinions in Fashion

Not all stylists are convinced. Reginald Ferguson, founder of NY Fashion Geek, argued that snoafers don’t belong in a professional setting. He called the look a spinoff of older hybrid shoes, only this time targeting Gen Z and younger millennials.

A Statement Piece in Any Setting

Despite the debate, Dunne shared that he wore his New Balance 1960L snoafers with a tuxedo at a friend’s wedding — with the groom’s approval.
