The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Bida, Dr Usman Abubakar, has called on the public to avoid spreading unverified information that may cause unnecessary tension in society.
Director’s Call for Verification
Dr Abubakar made the appeal during a stakeholders’ meeting on the hospital’s services in Bida, Niger State.
He stressed the need for residents to verify any information before sharing it with others.
Open-Door Policy for Clarification
According to him, FMC Bida operates an open-door policy that allows members of the public to contact hospital authorities at any time for clarification about its services.
The director also encouraged residents to speak positively about the centre rather than circulating unfounded stories.
Commitment to Quality Healthcare
Dr Abubakar reaffirmed FMC Bida’s commitment to providing quality and accessible healthcare to Nigerians and other citizens.
He assured stakeholders that the management is dedicated to improving healthcare delivery in the region.

Alhaji Yahaya Aliyu, the Maiyaki Nupe and Vice Chairman of the Guild of Friends of FMC Bida, commended Dr Abubakar and his team for their efforts in repositioning the hospital for better service.
He rated their performance at 95 per cent, praising their dedication to quality healthcare.

Alhaji Aliyu advised the management to remain focused, avoid distractions, and carry out their duties diligently.
He emphasised that prioritising healthcare spending is crucial for the well-being of society.
Affordable Medical Services
Highlighting the affordability of FMC Bida’s services, Alhaji Aliyu noted that the hospital charges just N700 per bed space.
He compared this with other FMCs that charge as much as N5,000.
Residents Urged to Support Management
He cautioned that any attempt to increase bed fees in Bida could lead to public uproar.
He also appealed to residents to cooperate with the hospital so it can continue delivering sustainable and affordable healthcare services.
