The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the posting and appointment of multiple senior officers to key command, instructional, and staff roles across the Nigerian Army.
Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele, acting Director of Army Public Relations, said the decision aims to strengthen leadership and enhance the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Army.
Key Appointments at Army Headquarters
The redeployment covers principal staff officers (PSOs) at Army Headquarters, two General Officers Commanding (GOCs), corps commanders, commandants of training institutions, and brigade commanders.
Among the PSOs at Army Headquarters are Major General A.A. Adeyinka, moved from the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST) to the Department of Army Logistics as Chief of Logistics.
Major General A.A. Adekeye transitioned from the Department of Standard and Evaluation to become Chief of Personnel Management.
Major General T.B. Ugiagbe was redeployed from the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps to serve as Chief of Standard and Evaluation.
Changes in Military Intelligence and Police
Other notable redeployments include Major General A.A. Idris, appointed Chief of Military Intelligence, and Major General M.O. Erebulu, named Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police.
Appointments in Specialized Roles
Major General E.A. Anaryu was named Corps Commander, Supply and Transport, while Major General S.A. Akesode was assigned as Head of Mission for the African Union Verification Mission in Tigray, Ethiopia.
Major General J.E. Osifo moved to the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation as Director General.
General Officers Commanding and Brigade Commanders
Senior officer GOC appointments include Major General A.S.M. Wase as GOC 1 Division/Commander Sector 1, and Major General C.R. Nnebeife as GOC 2 Division/Sector 3 Joint Task Force.
Brigadier generals also received new commands: Brigadier General M. Jimoh to HQ 1 Brigade, Brigadier General N.E. Okoloagu to 2 Brigade, and Brigadier General A.A. Bello to 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 JTF South South Operation DELTA SAFE.
Training Institution Leadership
Major General M.O. Ihanuwaze was appointed Commandant of the Nigerian Army Finance School and Administration.
Major General K.O. Osemwegie was named Commandant of the Army Signal School.
Major General A.J. Aliyu became Commandant of the Nigerian Army Ordnance School, while Major General A.C. Adetoba was redeployed as Commandant of the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management.
COAS Charges Officers to Excellence
The Chief of Army Staff urged the newly appointed officers to demonstrate dedication and commitment in sustaining efforts against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats.
He reaffirmed that troop welfare remains a priority for achieving operational success.
