The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released new instructions that caught many candidates by surprise.
All students who sat for the UTME and had previously uploaded their O’level results, especially before the release of final WAEC grades, must now return and re-upload their results.
Why JAMB Cleared Old Records
According to JAMB, all earlier uploads were wiped from its system to prevent confusion during admission checks.
Some candidates had uploaded incomplete records, including “awaiting results” or partial scores, which could create problems when cut-off marks are being reviewed.
To ensure accuracy, only final WAEC results will now be accepted.
Old Uploads No Longer Count
JAMB stressed that previously uploaded results are no longer valid, even if they match the final WAEC grades.
Every candidate must re-do the process to link a fresh copy of their SSCE results to their JAMB profile.
The aim is to maintain a clean admission process without mismatched records.
What JAMB Expects from Candidates
The Monday bulletin made it clear that this step is compulsory.
All UTME candidates are required to:
- Visit a JAMB-accredited centre.
- Carry their complete WAEC SSCE result slip.
- Re-upload without delay.
- Confirm that the update reflects on their JAMB portal.
Deadline Pressure for Students
JAMB warned that failure to re-upload could cost candidates their admission chances.
Those who delay may be sidelined when schools begin compiling their selection lists.
The process, though repetitive, is meant to safeguard students from being marked “incomplete” during admission screenings.

JAMB urged candidates to act quickly, likening the move to wiping a chalkboard clean and writing afresh.
