Nigeria Labour Party Chairman Criticizes Peter Obi Over Presidential Ambitions

Factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, has strongly criticized the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Abure stated that Obi appears overly desperate to assume Nigeria’s presidency.

He personally signed a statement on Thursday, asserting that Obi is responsible for the ongoing crisis within the Labour Party.

Allegations of Party Crisis and Desperation

According to Abure, Obi’s eagerness to control the party’s direction has led him to act irrationally.

He accused the former Anambra State governor of receiving significant goodwill from the party leadership and then repaying it with hostility.

“This is why we have maintained that Peter Obi lacks the competence, character, and capacity to realise the vision of a new Nigeria,” Abure said.

Reminder of Party Turmoil

Abure urged Nigerians not to forget that Peter Obi is the root cause of the Labour Party crisis.

He highlighted that Obi now uses this same crisis as a reason for voters to avoid supporting the party.

Response to By-Election Directives

Abure made these remarks in reaction to Obi’s recent instructions ahead of the August 16 by-elections.

The 2023 presidential candidate had encouraged his supporters to back the candidates of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in upcoming by-elections across several Nigerian states.
