The Federal Government has stated that it never signed any binding agreements with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, clarified this on Thursday while addressing journalists in Abuja, explaining that the documents being cited were only proposals.

2009 and 2011 Documents Not Binding

Alausa emphasized that both the 2009 and 2011 documents often referenced by ASUU were never signed, but simply drafts presented during negotiation processes.

Tinubu’s Administration Committed to Dialogue

He assured that President Bola Tinubu’s administration remains committed to resolving the long-standing issues with the lecturers’ union.

Clarification on Reports of Scheduled Meeting

The minister also dismissed reports that he had scheduled a meeting with ASUU and the Minister of Labour and Employment, describing them as inaccurate.
