NUC, QSRBN, and NIAS Assessments Opens New Academic Programs At FUTAMINNA

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), has recently taken a significant step toward expanding its academic offerings. The university is undergoing assessments by the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN), and the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIAS) to introduce six new courses into its academic programs. These assessments are aimed at ensuring the university meets all necessary requirements and standards before officially launching the courses.

The six new courses under review include Furniture Design, Agribusiness, Interior Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Food Engineering. Each of these courses represents a vital area of study that aligns with current trends and demands in various sectors of the Nigerian economy and beyond.

The assessments by NUC, QSRBN, and NIAS are crucial in ensuring that FUTMINNA is adequately prepared to offer these courses. The NUC, as the body responsible for accrediting Nigerian universities, will evaluate whether the university has the necessary infrastructure, qualified staff, and resources to effectively run these programs. Similarly, the QSRBN and NIAS are tasked with ensuring that courses related to their respective fields, like Quantity Surveying and Architecture, meet the professional and industry standards required.

Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta, the Vice-Chancellor of FUTMINNA, emphasized the importance of these assessments during a recent statement. According to him, the approval of these new courses will not only enhance the university’s reputation but also contribute to the overall development of Nigeria’s educational and professional sectors. He further assured that FUTMINNA is committed to meeting all necessary standards and requirements set by the accrediting bodies, stressing that the university remains dedicated to providing quality education that meets global standards.

In addition to these assessments, FUTMINNA has also secured approval from the NUC to introduce seven new Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) programs, which will be available for the 2024/2025 academic session. These programs include fields like Forestry and Wildlife Technology, Forensic Science, Public Health, Data Science, Software Engineering, Industrial Mathematics, and Meteorology. The new additions reflect the university’s commitment to offering cutting-edge education that aligns with the needs of modern industries and technological advancements.
