PancakeSwap Launches One-Click Crosschain Swaps With Across Protocol for Seamless DeFi Transactions

PancakeSwap has officially introduced one-click crosschain swaps using Across Protocol, making decentralized finance (DeFi) more accessible and efficient for everyday users.

This new feature eliminates the need for complicated bridges and third-party tools, which have long been a barrier to smooth user experiences in DeFi ecosystems.

The integration allows users to conduct crosschain transactions between BNB Chain, Arbitrum, and Base networks directly within the PancakeSwap interface.

By removing extra layers of infrastructure, this innovation reduces fees, simplifies interactions, and enhances security across multiple blockchain ecosystems.

What One-Click Crosschain Swaps Mean for DeFi Users

Before this update, users needed to rely on traditional blockchain bridges to transfer assets between chains.

These bridges often required manual steps, caused delays, and exposed users to significant security risks.

With Across Protocol’s intent-based architecture, users now only need to specify what they want—such as swapping USDC on Base for WETH on Arbitrum—and relayers take care of the rest.

These relayers compete to fulfill the user’s transaction quickly, minimizing wait times and maximizing value.

This system delivers faster transactions and creates a far more intuitive interface for traders.

Enhanced Security Through Intent-Based Technology

Blockchain bridges have been a major point of vulnerability in the past.

One of the most notorious examples was the Ronin Bridge hack in 2022, which resulted in a loss of over $600 million.

The exploit targeted the private key system of the bridge, revealing how easily funds can be compromised.

Chef Kids, head chef at PancakeSwap, explained that intent-based crosschain swaps offer a much safer alternative.

Since assets are never locked in a contract, the risk of exploits is significantly lowered.

Instead, transactions are completed in real time by a decentralized network of relayers, ensuring a smoother and more secure process.

Why Institutions Are Watching Closely

This technological leap doesn’t just benefit retail users—it also lays the groundwork for broader institutional adoption.

Chef Kids emphasized that intent-based crosschain swaps reduce complexity, cut down on smart contract risks, and offer reliable execution paths.

These improvements make it easier for large organizations to integrate with DeFi protocols without overhauling their existing systems.

Hart Lambur, co-founder of Across, believes that intent-based infrastructure will be the key to onboarding both institutions and retail users at scale.

He pointed out that this model provides auditability, better security, and clean execution without the usual operational overhead.

The Broader Push Toward Crosschain Standards

PancakeSwap is not the only protocol working to improve crosschain functionality.

In late 2024, Unichain proposed a new standard called ERC-7683 to streamline communication between blockchain networks.

This standard allows decentralized solvers to pick up and process crosschain orders, reducing latency and increasing efficiency.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has publicly supported this effort, calling ERC-7683 “an open standard for marking crosschain orders.”

How PancakeSwap and Others Are Leading the Future

Across Protocol is already integrated with UniswapX and operates a decentralized network of 30 solvers.

These solvers instantly fulfill user swaps using their own capital and bear the finality risk.

Thanks to this setup, average transaction times are around three seconds.

Meanwhile, other players like 1inch continue to innovate.

On June 10, 1inch launched its Pathfinder update, which claims to improve swap rates by 6.5% while offering faster, more seamless transactions.

Final Thoughts on PancakeSwap’s Crosschain Move

By launching one-click crosschain swaps with Across Protocol, PancakeSwap is pushing DeFi toward a more efficient and user-friendly future.

This change addresses long-standing issues in DeFi UX and makes it easier for both newcomers and institutions to participate confidently.

With increased speed, reduced fees, and better security, PancakeSwap’s innovation could redefine how users interact with decentralized exchanges.

As more protocols adopt similar standards and infrastructure, DeFi’s mainstream adoption seems closer than ever.
