It’s official.
Peacemaker season 2 will premiere on Thursday, August 21 at 9.00 pm ET/PT, exclusively on Max.
John Cena reprises his role as Christopher Smith, aka Peacemaker, bringing back the outrageous action and raunchy humour fans loved in season 1.
This season promises even more bone-crunching fights and gut-busting jokes — and yes, more villains’ butts will be kicked.
What the Season 2 Story Is About
According to the official synopsis, season 2 follows Peacemaker as he wrestles with his past and redefines his purpose.
It reads: “The new season follows Christopher ‘Chris’ Smith, aka Peacemaker, the vigilante Super Hero as he struggles to reconcile his past with his newfound sense of purpose while continuing to kick righteous evil-doer butt in his misguided quest for peace at any cost.”
So expect a deeper dive into the emotional side of Peacemaker, without sacrificing the over-the-top action.

The DC Universe Problem Is Solved — Sort Of
One of the major challenges for season 2 was its place in the DC timeline.
Season 1 took place in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), while season 2 is set in James Gunn’s rebooted DCU.
The trailer hints at a clever twist involving two Peacemakers — possibly representing the DCEU and DCU versions — which could help bridge the continuity gap.
The Justice League Is Way More Fun This Time
In a surprising turn, the trailer shows Peacemaker auditioning (rather awkwardly) for Maxwell Lord’s Justice League.
Characters like Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl make brief appearances, adding more flavour and humour than the DCEU’s more serious team.
While these cameos were likely filmed during Superman’s production, don’t expect them to have major roles in the season.
Rick Flag Sr. Returns — And He Wants Revenge
One of the standout characters this season is Rick Flag Sr.
He previously starred in Creature Commandos, and now he’s back with a personal vendetta.
Why?
Because Peacemaker killed his son in The Suicide Squad.
Unlike typical villains, Flag Sr. is a grieving father — which gives the show a more emotional and complex antagonist.
Mark Your Calendar: August 21
With intense action, emotional stakes, and new DCU connections, Peacemaker season 2 is shaping up to be one of the most exciting shows of 2025.
All episodes will stream on Max in the US starting August 21.
The first season is already available to stream on Max (US) and Now (UK), so there’s still time to catch up.
