When Do Lotto Draws Take Place?
The Lotto, Lotto Plus 1, and Lotto Plus 2 draws are held every Wednesday and Saturday.
The draws are broadcast live on SABC 2 at 20:56 (SA time).
How Lotto Works
Players choose six numbers from 1 to 52.
For those who prefer not to pick, a Quick Pick option randomly generates numbers.
Originally, Lotto numbers ranged from 1 to 49, but Ithuba Holdings increased it to 1–52 on 30 July 2017.
During the draw, six main balls are selected, followed by a Bonus Ball that only applies to players who matched five numbers.
Prizes start from matching three numbers, while matching all six secures the jackpot.
If no one wins the jackpot, it rolls over to the next draw.
The entry fee is R5.00 per board.
Lotto Plus 1
Lotto Plus 1 works exactly like Lotto, but gives players a second chance to win.
For an extra R2.50 per board, you can enter Lotto Plus 1.
It was introduced on 26 November 2003.
Lotto Plus 2
Lotto Plus 2 offers a third chance to win with the same rules.
It was introduced on 30 July 2017 and also costs R2.50 per board in addition to a Lotto ticket.
