The School of Health Information Management (SHIM) at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife, has begun accepting applications for the 2025/2026 academic session.

If you’re interested in pursuing a career in health records or health information systems and plan to write the 2025 UTME, this is a great opportunity.

Both National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programs are available for eligible applicants.

Requirements for National Diploma (ND) Applicants

To apply for the National Diploma in Health Information Management at OAUTHC, certain qualifications must be met.

You must have participated in the 2025 UTME and scored at or above the cut-off mark set by JAMB for Polytechnics and Monotechnics.

Your UTME score will determine your eligibility to proceed with the application process.

In addition to the UTME, you must have five credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

These credits should be obtained from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB in not more than two sittings.

Applicants must select SHIM, OAUTHC as either their first or second choice of institution.

However, if chosen for admission, you must be ready to switch it to your first choice.

Requirements for Higher National Diploma (HND) Applicants

For applicants interested in the HND track, the basic O’level subject requirements remain the same.

In addition, candidates must possess a National Diploma in Health Information Management with at least a Lower Credit grade.

You must also provide evidence of completing a one-year industrial training in a recognized healthcare institution.

Another critical requirement is a valid professional practicing license from the appropriate health regulatory body.

Without this license, your application will not be considered.

Entrance Exams and Screening for ND Candidates

All ND candidates will be required to take a written test covering English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and a General Paper.

Both written and oral assessment phases will be conducted during the screening.

This dual process helps evaluate your academic readiness and communication skills.

Only candidates who successfully pass both phases will be considered for final admission.

Entrance Exams and Screening for HND Candidates

HND candidates will face a slightly different examination format.

The written exam will include English Language, General Paper, and questions from professional courses related to health information management.

The goal is to assess both your foundational knowledge and advanced understanding of the field.

How to Apply for SHIM OAUTHC Admission

The application procedure differs slightly between ND and HND candidates.

ND applicants must pay a ₦2,000 application fee, while HND applicants are required to pay ₦8,000.

All payments should be made through the REMITA platform to the OAUTHC account.
