A teacher who quit her classroom job after it emerged she was selling X-rated pictures on OnlyFans is now set to face a disciplinary panel.
Kirsty Buchan, 34, left her role at Bannerman High School in Glasgow when her explicit sideline was revealed to the public.
The physics teacher claimed she started posting images to make extra money amid a pay dispute.
She later stated she earned £60,000 in just one month by sharing photos on the adult content site.
Investigation and Allegations by Education Watchdog
Glasgow City Council launched an investigation into Ms Buchan and referred the case to the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).
The mother-of-one now faces three allegations before a disciplinary panel.
The GTCS alleges that between 2022 and 2023, she created an OnlyFans page under the name ‘Jessica Jackrabbitx’.
The profile was used to sell explicit photos and videos.
Her page bio reportedly read, “good teacher gone bad*really bad,” mentioning she posted photos “every couple of days.”
She is also accused of failing to restrict access to her profile, allowing members of the public, including those under 18, to view content without logging in or subscribing.
Claims of Professional Misconduct
Ms Buchan, from Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, is further accused of giving a newspaper interview about her OnlyFans decision while still employed at the school in December 2022.
The GTCS states her actions showed a lack of integrity, failed to protect her identity, and risked damaging the teaching profession’s reputation.
They claim her fitness to teach is “impaired” and that she is unfit to continue teaching.
Teacher’s Defence and Background
Ms Buchan has defended her choice to join OnlyFans.
She said, “You can hate me if you want.”
“I don’t like narrow-minded people who make judgments on folk they don’t truly know. I have an everyday woman’s body and don’t mind showing my flaws.”
“This is about standing up for my story and OnlyFans and promoting feeling good about yourself.”
“I’m not looking for the world, just to be able to provide for my son.”
She explained she joined OnlyFans in 2022 due to a drop in her income from teaching.
Before teaching, Ms Buchan pursued acting, taking small roles and advertising herself on acting websites.
On the StarNow acting site, she described herself as working as a physics teacher and looking for extra weekend and night work.
Her profile also mentioned having done “some extra work in a low budget internet series.”
She stated, “Any job working alongside people or leading a group (especially working with children) is a perfect match for my qualities.”
Support from Pupils and Upcoming Hearing
Despite the controversy, pupils expressed support for their former science teacher in 2022.
One pupil posted on Instagram, “Just want to let you know that we are all so grateful for everything you did for each and every one of us individually.”
“You made the school worth going to, and God knows how we’re all going to cope without you?”
“I wish you the best of luck in the future and hopefully don’t forget about us.”
A virtual hearing to decide Ms Buchan’s fate is scheduled for next week.
