United States Netflix Rolls Out New UI on Apple TV

Netflix’s major interface overhaul, described by the company as a “giant leap forward,” is now available on Apple TV and Apple TV 4K devices.

The redesign first debuted on other platforms earlier this year and introduces both visual changes and new sound effects for navigation, which cannot yet be disabled.

Mixed Reactions From Users

Subscribers have expressed mixed feelings about the redesign.

Some enjoy the refreshed look, while others miss the familiar scrolling rows and find the added sounds repetitive and intrusive.

The debate has been particularly active on Reddit, where many users describe the new interface as “horrible” or “gross.”

Key Features of the New Netflix UI

The new Apple TV interface features a main rectangular top bar that rotates through featured content, including new seasons and top picks.

Below the top bar are the familiar rows, including the essential “Continue Watching” section.

Navigation now includes a top bar with Home, Shows, Movies, Genres, and My Netflix, similar to Amazon Prime Video, consolidating your list and content suggestions in one place.

Sounds and Navigation Issues

One of the most notable changes is the addition of scrolling and clicking sound effects, which cannot currently be turned off.

Even disabling menu sounds in tvOS settings does not affect Netflix’s new sounds, frustrating some users.

Availability and Platform Notes

The redesign is part of a gradual rollout and does not bring new content features—only a visual and navigational refresh.

Netflix continues to avoid integration with the Apple TV app, despite repeated requests from users and a brief test of the functionality in February 2025.

Community Feedback

Reddit users have voiced both sarcastic and serious critiques, highlighting the challenges of adjusting to the new UI.

Netflix maintains that many subscribers quietly enjoy the new look, but the most vocal responses tend to be negative.

Outlook for Apple TV Subscribers

While the new interface may take time to grow on users, Netflix’s commitment to the redesign rollout remains unchanged.

Some suggest Apple TV app integration could improve the experience, but Netflix is unlikely to adopt this approach anytime soon.
