Robbie Brewer, a seasoned stock car driver, passed away over the weekend following a medical emergency while racing at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.


Crash Occurs After Medical Incident on Quarter-Mile Track

During the event, Brewer’s car collided head-on with a wall on the short 0.40-kilometer track and came to rest near the start-finish line.

Track workers had to remove the roof of his vehicle to safely extract the 53-year-old driver. Brewer was then transported by ambulance to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist hospital, where he later died.

In a statement, Bowman Gray Stadium officials expressed their sorrow over Brewer’s passing, calling him a passionate and highly respected competitor.
