Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has ridiculed former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi following the state’s recent by-election.
He stated that the results of Saturday’s polls demonstrated that the Labour Party (LP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are “dead” and have no presence in Anambra.
Celebrating APGA Victory
Soludo made the remarks during a Sunday event in the Nanka area, where he celebrated the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) victory in the by-elections.
He specifically criticized Obi, who had supported ADC candidates in the polls, insisting that the party has no real foothold in the state.
“ADC does not exist in Anambra. We showed it yesterday, Saturday. Labour Party is dead,” Soludo remarked.
Opposition Coalition Fails to Impress
According to Soludo, the ADC-led opposition coalition had intended to use the by-election as a measure of its popularity.
However, he said the electorate spoke decisively, with APGA receiving over 75% of the votes.
“APGA is our movement,” he added, reinforcing the party’s dominance in the state.
Political Context
DAILY POST reports that Peter Obi, a member of the Labour Party, had joined forces with the ADC coalition to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
The by-election outcome, however, shows that APGA remains the dominant political force in Anambra State.
