Edo State: INEC Begins Distribution of Sensitive Materials Ahead of By-Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has started distributing sensitive election materials to local government areas in Edo State ahead of the by-elections scheduled for Saturday.

The exercise was conducted at the Benin branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), with representatives of political parties and civil society organizations present to observe the process.


Ensuring Transparency

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Edo State, Prof. Anugbum Onuoha, told journalists that INEC found it essential to involve all participating political parties to guarantee transparency.

He added that the stakeholders in attendance were satisfied with the way the materials were handled.


Ready for the Elections

“The exercise so far has been smooth and seamless, and we are fully prepared for the polls,” Onuoha said.

He confirmed that the sensitive materials would be dispatched from Benin to the seven local government areas where the by-elections are scheduled to take place.

The presence of political party officials and civil society members helped reinforce public confidence in the process, demonstrating INEC’s commitment to transparent and credible elections in Edo State.
