Nigeria captures terrorist leaders as U.S Mission hails operation

The United States Mission in Nigeria has applauded the Nigerian government for successfully dismantling newly formed terrorist cells in the country.

Capture of Terrorist Leaders

The government recently confirmed the arrest of key leaders of the Ansaru and Mahmuda terrorist groups.
Those captured include Mahmud Muhammad Usman, also known as Abu Bara’a, and Mahmud Al-Nageri, also called Mallam Mamuda.

U.S Mission Issues Statement

In a post shared on its official X handle on Monday, the U.S Mission described the arrests as a major victory in Nigeria’s ongoing fight against terrorism.
The statement read:
“We commend the Nigerian Government and security forces on the successful arrest of wanted #Ansaru leaders, Mahmud Muhammad Usman (aka Abu Bara’a) and Mahmud al-Nigeri (aka Mallam Mamuda).”

The Mission further stated that the development marks a significant step forward in Nigeria’s battle against terrorism and violent extremism.
