Charles EstherDave Coulier, best known for his iconic role as Uncle Joey on Full House, has spoken out about the terrifying final days of his cancer treatment.
In a heartfelt episode of the How Rude, Tanneritos! podcast, hosted by his former co-stars Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber, the actor and comedian revealed details of his harrowing experience battling stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
After undergoing months of chemotherapy, Coulier had just finished his final treatment when he was suddenly hit with a severe cold.
What seemed like a minor illness quickly escalated due to his weakened immune system.
“I was a mess,” Coulier recalled.
The fever wouldn’t go away, and his body was struggling to recover from the aggressive chemotherapy sessions.
Initially, he didn’t realize the seriousness of his symptoms and brushed them off as normal post-chemo effects.
But his wife, Melissa Bring, noticed something was seriously wrong.
She insisted he get medical attention.
Coulier was rushed to the hospital, where he was given antibiotics through an IV and underwent a series of urgent tests.
Doctors even considered the possibility of a heart attack.
Eventually, they discovered he had contracted rhinovirus—the common cold—but because of his immune system’s fragile state, it had turned life-threatening.
Had he waited another 48 hours, doctors warned, he might not have survived.
Coulier was first diagnosed with cancer in October 2024 after noticing swollen lymph nodes during an upper respiratory infection.
He completed his treatment and was officially declared cancer-free on March 31, 2025.
Reflecting on the journey, Coulier expressed deep gratitude for his wife’s quick thinking, the support of loved ones, and the importance of paying attention to your body’s warning signs.
Now on the other side of cancer, he hopes his story will encourage others to seek early detection and never ignore unusual symptoms.
