Kaduna State Commissioner of Information, Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, has attributed the All Progressives Congress (APC) victory in the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency by-election to Governor Uba Sani’s inclusive governance and people-focused policies.
He spoke to journalists following the announcement of election results in Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency and the Zaria Kewaye and Basawa State Assembly constituencies.
Election Outcome and Voter Trust
According to Maiyaki, the result demonstrates the trust Kaduna communities now have in Governor Uba Sani and the APC.
He described the victory as historic and symbolic, breaking a long-standing trend in a constituency that had previously resisted APC’s influence.
The commissioner noted that the win solidifies the party’s presence across Kaduna, extending into areas previously considered opposition strongholds.
INEC Results Breakdown
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced the following results for Chikun/Kajuru:
- APC: 34,580 votes
- PDP: 11,491 votes
- ADC: 3,477 votes
- SDP: 142 votes
Maiyaki emphasized that these results reflect a clear mandate for progressive leadership.
Factors Behind the Landslide
The commissioner attributed the sweeping victory to Governor Uba Sani’s grassroots-oriented leadership, which has delivered tangible outcomes in road infrastructure, healthcare, education reforms, and security initiatives.
He noted that these policies resonated strongly with voters, paving the way for the APC’s historic win.
Significance for Kaduna Politics
Maiyaki stated that the people of Chikun, Kajuru, Zaria Kewaye, and Basawa have clearly expressed a preference for progressive leadership over recycled promises.
With the APC’s dominant 34,580 votes, far ahead of the opposition’s combined tally, he asserted that the party has cemented its status as the leading political force in Kaduna State.
The commissioner added that this momentum positions the APC favorably ahead of the 2027 elections.
