Rider Trapped Under the Truck

The truck was descending the slope at the Shoprite-Dalemo axis when the driver reportedly lost control. While most riders in the area managed to escape, one was trapped and had his motorcycle crushed under the truck.

Time and Scene of the Incident

Eyewitnesses said the crash happened at about 2:20 p.m. A photo obtained showed the rider’s motorcycle pinned beneath the truck.

Rescue and Medical Attention

The injured rider was quickly rushed to the General Hospital, Ota, where he is currently receiving treatment for his leg injuries.

TRACE Issues Safety Warning

The TRACE Ota Divisional Commander, Salau Hammed, condemned reckless driving and warned motorists to slow down when approaching slopes and slick roads, including the tollgate axis.

Call for Vehicle Safety Checks

Hammed emphasized that many avoidable crashes are caused by drivers’ failure to properly inspect and maintain their vehicles before putting them on the road. He urged truck drivers in particular to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy to prevent such tragedies.
