Tristan Tate, brother of Andrew Tate and former professional kickboxer, has defended South African MMA fighter Dricus du Plessis against accusations of racism.
Known for his outspoken opinions on topics like farm killings, “white genocide,” and support for former US President Donald Trump, Tristan shared his thoughts on social media.
On his X account, he wrote: “The hate @dricusduplessis is getting from people is totally unjustified. Chin up, champ, ignore the noise.”
Responding to Previous Criticism
Tristan previously spoke out after fellow UFC fighter Israel “Izzy” Adesanya claimed that du Plessis “isn’t African.”
He posted: “Saying @dricusduplessis isn’t African because he’s white is super racist. He’s African and so is Elon, do none of you know basic history?”
Praise for Trump and Elon Musk
Dricus has faced criticism from some South Africans for publicly praising Donald Trump, who accused the country of promoting “white genocide.”
Earlier this year, the 31-year-old UFC fighter said of Trump: “He is amazing, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting him. He said good changes are coming. He’s holding many people and countries accountable for everything, and it’s amazing to see.”
He also praised fellow South African Elon Musk for “doing the right thing.”
Criticism of President Ramaphosa
Dricus has been vocal about farm killings and has openly criticised South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Speaking to US interviewer Nina Drama ahead of a UFC title fight, he said: “It’s the worst government in the world by a long shot. We are truly and exceptionally s**t…it’s the most corrupt in the world.”
He added: “Our country is beautiful, the people are amazing…..There are a lot of great people doing great work. But I have to say, the government is terrible. Do I admit the tenacity with which they screw up? It’s astonishing.”
Regarding President Ramaphosa, he stated: “He takes all the money.”
