Soweto, South Africa: Kaizer Chiefs Sign Winger Asanele Velebayi on Free Transfer

Kaizer Chiefs have officially announced the signing of 22-year-old winger Asanele Velebayi.
The move comes after more than a year of speculation linking the player to the Soweto giants.

Deal Completed After Cape Town Spurs Relegation

Velebayi’s transfer followed Cape Town Spurs’ relegation to the ABC Motsepe League.
Chiefs quickly took the opportunity to sign him on a free transfer.
However, the Urban Warriors initially resisted, insisting they deserved a transfer fee despite dropping to the third division.

Official Statement Confirms the Signing

“Asanele Velebayi has officially joined Kaizer Chiefs,” the club confirmed in a Tuesday announcement.
The Cape Town-born winger signed a long-term deal, fulfilling his childhood dream of wearing Amakhosi’s gold and black.

Chiefs See Perfect Fit for Playing Style

Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. expressed his satisfaction at securing the player.
“We are happy to finally have Asanele with us,” he said.
“He’s a great addition and will add significant value as a perfect fit for our playing model and culture.”

Seventh New Arrival in a Busy Transfer Window

Velebayi joins six other new signings: Ethan Chislett, Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Flavio Silva, and Siphesihle Ndlovu.

Departures Make Way for Fresh Talent

The club has also parted ways with several players this season, including Njabulo Blom, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Sabelo Radebe, Bongani Sam, Edmilson Dove, Edson Castillo, Yusuf Maart, Tebogo Potsane, and Ranga Chivaviro.
